Morley’s Final Catalogue: Extremely local on heaths with us. Found to be common at Tuddenham in July (Wrn).
Recent Status: Can be common around heathland in Suffolk.
Life Style: A double brooded species that flies by day and night and comes to light. It can be found from April to August. The ova are laid in batches. The larvae initially feed gregariously then feed from a spun leaf or shoot on Erica, Calluna and coniferous trees. They pupate in the larval habitation of on the ground.
Identification: A robust tortricid moth with a normally sharply defined dark pattern on a light silvery pale wing with darker striae. Occasionally may be less distinctly marked with the two colours merging. The darker pattern varies in colour from black through red brown to light orange brown.
